The LCK Road to MSI, which was held for three days last year and this year, will be expanded to five days starting next year. The bidding process for local governments wishing to host the ‘2027 LCK MSI Representative Qualifiers (LCK Road to MSI)’ scheduled for June of next year has officially begun.
The Korea Esports Association announced through a press release on the 28th that it is jointly accepting applications from cities hoping to host the 2027 LCK Road to MSI with Riot Games until November 18.
The Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) is an international League of Legends tournament featuring 11 teams representing six regions worldwide, held after the first half of the regular season. It has established itself as a major tournament where the winning team is granted a ticket to the World Championship. Following the reorganization of the professional league in 2025, Riot Games newly established the LCK Road to MSI to determine the teams advancing to the MSI.
The LCK Road to MSI is a stage where the top six teams from the 1st and 2nd rounds of the LCK regular season compete, with the final top two teams earning the LCK representative qualification. The 2027 LCK Road to MSI is scheduled to be held with an extended total duration of five days through cooperation with local governments.
Local governments wishing to host the event can submit their letter of intent and related documents via the Korea Esports Association email by November 18. Afterward, the association plans to accept host proposals from the municipalities that submitted letters of intent, undergo an evaluation process, and finalize the host city in January 2027.
Riot Games and the association have continued regional linkage events since 2022 by cooperating with local governments to jointly host LCK finals in Gangneung, Daejeon, and Gyeongju, as well as LCK MSI qualifiers in Busan and Wonju. Notably, this year’s qualifiers held in Wonju attracted about 15,000 spectators over three days, contributing to the revitalization of the local economy and tourism.
