Rev. Lee Dong-won, the pastor emeritus of Global Church in South Korea, has visited the United States to lead an autumn revival meeting.
Pastor Lee is serving as the guest speaker for the autumn revival held from October 9 to 11 at the Seal Beach Leisure World Korean Community Church, led by Pastor Yong Jang-young.
Visiting LA for the revival, Pastor Lee shared in an interview with the press, “Recently, Christianity in both South Korea and the United States has faced spiritual crises and the challenges of secularization. To recover its holy influence, faith must be concretely realized in the daily lives of believers.”
Pastor Lee is focusing his sermons on the Book of Colossians during this revival. Mentioning the immigrant community, he noted, “Colossians is a letter written by the Apostle Paul while he was imprisoned in Rome. I want to explore together how Christians living difficult immigrant lives can honor Christ as the master of their lives.”
Since his retirement, Pastor Lee has been leading the Pilgrim’s House in Gapyeong, focusing on Pilgrim’s Progress pilgrimage ministries while traveling annually to preach at churches worldwide. He added, “A missional life lived out day by day with our bodies is crucial. In difficult times, the Gospel and truth are needed all the more.”
Having deep ties to the diaspora church community through his past ministry at Washington Global Church (formerly First Korean Baptist Church) and KOSTA, Pastor Lee expressed affection for the Seal Beach Leisure World area, saying, “Many of those past saints resided in the Seal Beach Leisure Town, so it feels like coming home.”
