[OSEN=Reporter Kim Na-yeon] Actor Lee Jin-wook will star alongside Im Yoon-ah as a fellow forensic pathologist in the upcoming series ‘Unnatural’ (working title).
Set to premiere in 2027, tvN’s new drama ‘Unnatural’ (written by Min Ji-eun, directed by Park Yu-young, produced by Studio Dragon and Big Wave Entertainment) is a mystery medical drama. It follows the forensic experts at U.D.I, a fictional autopsy and investigation agency affiliated with the National Forensic Service, as they uncover the truth behind unnatural deaths.
‘Unnatural’ is a remake of the hit 2008 Japanese drama of the same name originally aired by TBS. The original series gained a massive fan base in Japan and Korea alike for its well-crafted storyline addressing social messages, paired with stellar performances by actors like Satomi Ishihara and Arata Iura. Consequently, anticipation has been sky-high since the news of a Korean remake broke.
Amidst this excitement, following the earlier casting of Im Yoon-ah as lead forensic pathologist Song Do-eun, Lee Jin-wook has been confirmed to play Goo Seung-hyuk, a forensic pathologist at the U.D.I Center, raising expectations even further. Goo Seung-hyuk is a cold-hearted character who rarely shows his emotions in front of others. Because he cares only for the dead rather than the living, he earned the nickname ‘Grim Reaper’ within U.D.I. Reluctant to interact with people and keeping everyone at a distance, he always maintains a poker face and a cynical attitude.
Backed by over 3,000 autopsies, Goo Seung-hyuk’s professional skills are second to none. He completes autopsies in a short amount of time while boasting incredible precision that never misses the tiniest traces left on a body. As a veteran forensic pathologist who focuses solely on the corpse before him regardless of external distractions, viewers are eager to see Lee Jin-wook bring this cynical and chilling character to life with his own unique colors.
Having previously played roles at the center of investigations, such as detectives and lawyers, Lee Jin-wook will now showcase a different charm by stepping back to examine cases through the traces of death.
