With the Midterm Elections just one day away, key candidates officially endorsed by The Korea Daily are making a final push to capture voter sentiment.
Among this year’s candidates, the most notable figure is Representative Young Kim (R-CA), who is bidding to become the first Korean-American woman to secure a fourth term in the U.S. House of Representatives for California’s 40th Congressional District. Last year’s redistricting absorbed the 41st district of veteran Republican Representative Ken Calvert, creating a head-to-head matchup between incumbents.
Rep. Kim has been campaigning door-to-door across Riverside and Orange counties alongside volunteers. On October 30, she posted early immigration photos on social media, appealing to voters by stating, “I will fight until the end so that you too can achieve the ‘American Dream’ that I have realized.”
Representative Dave Min (D-CA), running for reelection in the 47th Congressional District, is also tightening his grip. Although the 47th district became more progressive following redistricting, Min has not let his guard down, focusing on consolidating his base by holding a campaign rally in Irvine on November 1.
Jane Kim (49), running for California Insurance Commissioner as the first Korean-American elected official in the state government, has also entered the final stretch of voter outreach. Having campaigned in Los Angeles over the weekend, Kim emphasized that she will meet voters in San Francisco today (November 2) and tomorrow (November 3), stating, “I will do my absolute best until the end.”
Kang Suk-hee (74), the former Irvine mayor returning to a city council race after 22 years, shared, “With the mindset of catching even one more person until the very end, I am encouraging every voter I meet to vote. I have already visited 10,000 households and continue to walk three to four hours a day to meet residents.”
LA Mayor Karen Bass (73), campaigning to solidify her voter base for reelection, made successive visits to MacArthur Park, Koreatown, and South LA over the weekend to appeal for support.
California gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton (57) intensified his offensive by stimulating a backlash against the Democratic one-party system, posting more than 10 social media messages a day targeting his opponent.
Paul Seo (43) of California’s 66th Assembly District is also drawing attention. A West Point graduate, former Army officer, prosecutor, and mayor of Rancho Palos Verdes, he has pledged corruption eradication, public safety, and the reduction of living costs. Seo is gaining momentum with endorsements from key party figures, including U.S. Senators Andy Kim and Adam Schiff, U.S. Representatives Dave Min and Judy Chu, and current 66th District Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi.
Meanwhile, The Korea Daily has officially endorsed several other candidates, including Sarah Hernandez for California State Senate 26th District, Mark Gonzalez for California Assembly 54th District, John McKinney for LA City Attorney, Yongduk Choi for Buena Park City Council District 2, Andrew Kim for La Palma City Council District 2, Steve Lee for Arcadia City Council District 5, Daniel Kim for Fullerton City Council District 3, and Jungsik Kim for Calexico City Council.
