OceanFirst Bank officially opened its new Flushing branch on the 5th following its merger with Flushing Bank, marking the beginning of full-scale operations.
The newly opened branch replaced its previous branding and visual identity with OceanFirst signage. The opening ceremony was attended by key figures including Christopher Maher, CEO of OceanFirst, and New York State Senator John Liu.
During the event, CEO Maher stated, “We look forward to finding growth opportunities through new relationships with the Korean community. One of the most important opportunities we prioritized during the Flushing Bank acquisition was establishing relationship banking with the Korean and broader Asian communities.” He also noted that OceanFirst specializes in banking for family-owned businesses of all sizes.
Additionally, Maher announced plans to introduce Korean-language support for mobile and internet banking within the next one to two years. He also revealed that the OceanFirst Foundation will distribute $500,000 in grants to the Korean and local communities in October. He emphasized that OceanFirst’s future management will continue to focus on maintaining financial soundness centered around local businesses.
