Actress Park Ah-in has heightened the tension in the tvN Monday-Tuesday drama ‘My Guilty Person’ by fully unleashing her character’s fierce ambition for the seat of succession.
In episodes 3 and 4 of ‘My Guilty Person’ (written by Moon Soo-jung, directed by Park Dan-hee), aired on the 26th and 27th, Park Ah-in portrayed Yoon Na-jung’s inner thoughts as she sought to turn her younger brother’s crisis into her own opportunity. She highlighted the character’s calculating side by venting her emotions without hesitation and instantly turning cold and calculating when the situation favored her.
On this day, Park Ah-in displayed her annoyance and impatience toward her husband with a sharp voice and unfiltered line delivery. However, the moment her younger brother Yoon Yi-jun (played by Im Si-wan) fell into crisis, she instantly wiped away her emotions and reversed the mood with a chilling smile. During a one-on-one confrontation with her father, Chairman Yoon (played by Choi Jin-ho), she pushed forward her demand to reconsider the stock transfer with a sharp gaze and resolute tone. She added a meaningful smile, clearly revealing Yoon Na-jung’s agenda of prioritizing her own interests.
During the family dinner scene, she generated palpable tension using only a smiling face. After the stock transfer to Yoon Yi-jun was revoked, Yoon Na-jung handed over a basket of flowers, continuing her subtle provocation with undisguised satisfaction and a relaxed tone. Even when she came face-to-face with Yoon Yi-jun later, she refused to back down, engaging in a war of nerves with pointed remarks to intentionally provoke her brother.
Her shifting attitude depending on the person she faced was equally striking. When demanding information from Kang Jae-hee (played by Lee Sun-bin), she displayed a self-centered personality by treating the transaction as a given, while in front of Kim Si-hyeon (played by Kim Jung-hyun), she relaxed and gauged his reactions to reveal her ambition. Park Ah-in effectively conveyed Yoon Na-jung’s intent to pressure others and seize control by controlling the pacing of her words and utilizing subtle changes in her gaze and expressions.
Through these nuances, Park Ah-in seamlessly moves between volatile emotions and a cold smile, bringing Yoon Na-jung’s complex inner self to life. From moments of uninhibited emotional outbursts to testing others with a smiling face, her versatile expressions have significantly escalated the tension of the succession race. As Yoon Na-jung’s ambitionโwhich cannot be easily read through her outward expressions aloneโcomes to the forefront, viewer anticipation for future developments continues to grow.
Previously, Park Ah-in has expanded her acting spectrum through unique characters in various works including ‘Descendants of the Sun’, ‘Mr. Sunshine’, ‘Vagabond’, ‘When Flowers Bloom, I Think of the Moon’, ‘Wedding Impossible’, ‘Your Honor’, ‘Good Partner’, ‘The Moon Flows in This River’, and ‘Sold Out Today’. As she anchors the tension of ‘My Guilty Person’ with her portrayal of the coldly ambitious Yoon Na-jung, expectations are high for her ongoing performance amid the fierce succession battle.
