Shinhan Bank San Diego β€” New General Manager Appointed

Shinhan Bank San Diego

Shinhan Bank San Diego branch has welcomed Taehan Kim as its new general manager, according to recent announcements.

Shinhan Bank America officially appointed Kim, who previously served as the Western Regional Head, to the San Diego branch position.

This personnel change follows the departure of former General Manager Lee Sang-yeob, who left the bank after serving in the San Diego area for about a decade.

Lee began his tenure in 2016 as the founding manager when the San Diego branch first opened and was promoted to general manager in February 2024. He served in San Diego for a total of 10 years and 6 months.

The newly appointed General Manager Kim graduated from Chung-Ang University and earned his MBA from Arizona State University in 2002. He joined Citibank in South Korea in 1995 and has been working with Shinhan Bank America since 2007.

Notably, Kim handled overall practical operations ranging from planning to personnel recruitment during the opening of the San Diego branch in 2016. He has also directly managed the branch for a long time as general manager, which is the reason for his deep affection for the San Diego branch.

Reflecting on his predecessor, Kim stated, "Former General Manager Lee’s exceptional capability has grown this branch into a mid-sized branch in just 10 years," acknowledging Lee’s significant contribution to the branch’s stable growth.

He further explained that the headquarters views San Diego as a strategically important region, which is why the bank maintained the San Diego branch as an independent sales headquarters rather than integrating it into the Western Regional Headquarters.
