A recent Southern California weather system driven by an autumn storm is continuing to bring thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rain to the region. With localized downpours expected, authorities have issued strict warnings regarding potential street flooding and overflowing rivers in several areas.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), an upper-level low-pressure system is moving across Ventura and Los Angeles counties, triggering scattered showers and thunderstorms. The precipitation is forecasted to heavily impact Santa Barbara County, while LA and Ventura counties will experience more localized showers.

Meteorologists warn that despite the scattered nature of the storm, there remains a slight risk of gusty winds, strong thunderstorms, or even weak, isolated tornadoes.

Currently, flood advisories are in effect for the Malibu coast, Santa Monica mountains, Pacific Palisades, and Topanga areas through this afternoon. The advisory for parts of Santa Barbara County has been extended into the evening.

Rainfall rates could reach between 0.5 and 1 inch per hour in these affected zones, significantly elevating the risk of standing water on poor-drainage roads, low-lying street flooding, and swollen waterways.

The NWS has strongly urged residents, especially those near recent wildfire burn scars, to remain vigilant against sudden flash flooding and debris flows.

Looking ahead, dry and warm weather conditions are expected to return starting tomorrow as the storm system clears the region.
