Studio Gang, the renowned architecture firm led by prominent architect Jeanne Gang, has been awarded the highest honor, the ‘Firm Award,’ at the ‘American Institute of Architects (AIA) Chicago Design Night 2026,’ often referred to as the ‘Oscars of the Chicago architecture world.’ AIA Chicago announced a total of 52 project winners at an awards ceremony held on the 1st at the Harris Theater in Millennium Park.
A Decade of Sustainable Design and Community Impact
Studio Gang was recognized for its architectural work over the past decade, its commitment to sustainable design, community engagement, and contributions to the field of architecture. Founded in Chicago in 1997, Studio Gang has designed notable projects such as the ‘Aqua Tower,’ the ‘St. Regis Chicago,’ and the ‘Nature Boardwalk’ at Lincoln Park Zoo. In addition to Chicago, the firm currently operates offices in New York, San Francisco, and Paris.
Excellence in Architectural Projects
In the architectural project category, JGMA’s ‘Humboldt Park Health Wellness Center’ on the West Side received the top honor for medium-sized design firms, the ‘Design Excellence Highest Honor Award.’ With a $30 million budget, the facility reflects the cultural background of Humboldt Park, an area with a large Puerto Rican population, featuring green and blue exterior materials reminiscent of the Caribbean.
Other Community Honorees
Additionally, other top honors went to the ‘Garden 2 Table Pipeline’ community garden in North Lawndale and the ‘No Longer Human’ community space in Evanston.
