Following the unexpected shutdown announcement by the 20-year fandom of former BIGBANG member TOP fandom boycott, his agency has officially responded with an apology.
On October 10, TOP’s agency, Topspot Pictures, stated, “We are taking the recent opinions shared by our fans very seriously. We deeply apologize for the lack of activity updates and insufficient communication, which caused disappointment and a sense of alienation among those who have waited so long.”
The agency added, “Moving forward, we will listen more closely to your feedback and actively reflect it in the artist’s overall activities and management.”
Furthermore, they announced, “We will also review our communication methods with the fans and announce improvement plans through our official channels as soon as they are ready. We will return with a better appearance to repay the love you have sent to our artist.”
Earlier that day, TOP’s 20-year fandom, Choi Seung-hyun.com, announced its operation shutdown, stating, “We have judged that we can no longer overlook the reality avoidance and evasion of responsibility by TOP and Topspot Pictures, as well as the attitude of taking fans’ dedication for granted.”
The fandom representatives pointed out the issues, noting, “Contrary to the claim that albums were made for the fans, there was not enough of the performances and communication that fans wanted most.” They also published a lengthy statement emphasizing that “fans’ love and support should not be utilized when needed and ignored when inconvenient.”
