Singer Young K of DAY6 is set to appear on KBS2’s ‘The Return of Superman’ to spend a delightful time as the music teacher for Shim Hyung-tak’s son, Haru. Reportedly, Young K was deeply impressed by the drumming prodigy’s exceptional musical talent.
Scheduled to broadcast on the 28th at 8:30 PM KST, episode 641 of ‘The Return of Superman’ titled ‘Welcome to The Return of Superman’ features a heartwarming chemistry between the toddler Haru and his special day-mentor, Young K.
Young K arrives with a child-sized drum set, immediately capturing Haru’s undivided attention. Known to frequently enjoy watching DAY6’s live performance videos, Haru wastes no time tapping the drumsticks before effortlessly catching the rhythm and diving into a two-handed performance that amazes everyone on set. Astonished by the toddler’s immersive jam session, Young K exclaims, “Haru, you’re good?!” and patiently guides him on how to properly hold the drumsticks together.
A special duet soon unfolds, drawing immense attention. As the bassist of DAY6, Young K shares, “I picked up an acoustic guitar for the first time in years just to play it for Haru.” When Young K pulls out the guitar, Haru bursts into a wide grin, wiggles excitedly, and firmly grips his drumsticks while shouting, “Go!” to kick off their private duet.
Set to Young K’s sweet guitar melodies and vocals, Haru displays impeccable rhythm and impressive drumming skills that leave everyone in awe. Moved by the sweet collaboration, Shim Hyung-tak expresses his deep emotion, saying, “It feels like my heart is melting.”
Utterly charmed by Haru’s lovely personality, Young K treats him to a special mini-busking session. He prepares acoustic renditions of DAY6’s hit tracks ‘You Were Beautiful’ and ‘Time of Our Life’ specifically for Haru. In return, Haru melts Young K’s heart with a bright smile and an adorable dance.
Meanwhile, Young K continues to maintain a busy schedule through diverse band activities with DAY6, including concerts and live performances. Beyond his group activities, he is active in various solo endeavors, having served as a judge for ENA’s ‘The Scout’ this year and being selected as a judge for the ‘2026 MBC University Song Festival’ airing next month.
