Hwang Young Woong OST Pulled From Drama, Producer Apologizes and Releases Evidence
Hwang Young Woong OST controversy has taken another unexpected turn. Although the singer’s newly recorded soundtrack for the K-drama Love Prescribed (사랑을 처방해드립니다) will still be released on music streaming platforms, it will no longer be featured during the television broadcast.
The decision comes after renewed public criticism surrounding Hwang Young Woong’s past controversies, prompting the OST production company to issue a formal apology while insisting that reports claiming it forced the casting are inaccurate.
Producer Explains Why the OST Was Recorded
On July 14, Nyam Nyam Entertainment released an official statement apologizing for the confusion surrounding the drama’s soundtrack.
According to the company, Hwang Young Woong had completed recording the song well in advance as part of the drama’s scheduled OST production timeline. While the track has now been removed from the TV version of the series, the company said it decided to proceed with its digital release because the production had already been completed.
The producer also defended its decision to cast the singer in the first place, saying it carefully reviewed his previous controversies before moving forward.
Rather than making judgments based solely on past allegations, the company said it focused on Hwang’s musical ability and vocal performance, believing his voice was worthy of being included in the soundtrack.
Company Denies It Forced the Casting
Addressing speculation online, Nyam Nyam Entertainment strongly rejected claims that it had pushed the casting through despite objections.
The company emphasized that selecting an OST singer falls under the producer’s contractual responsibilities and that all necessary copyright and production procedures were properly followed.
To support its position, the producer revealed that it possesses KakaoTalk conversations and additional documentation related to the decision-making process. It also released screenshots of messages exchanged between company representatives and members of the drama’s production team, saying more evidence could be disclosed if necessary to clarify the facts.
The company further stressed that KBS was not involved in the decision and urged the public not to direct criticism toward the broadcaster.
“We will fully accept responsibility as the OST production company,” the statement said. “However, we sincerely ask that excessive criticism toward the artist be avoided. If criticism must be directed somewhere, we will accept it.”
Hwang Young Woong’s Past Controversies Continue to Follow Him
The Hwang Young Woong OST dispute has once again drawn attention to the singer’s troubled public image.
Hwang rose to prominence in 2023 as a leading contestant on the audition program Burning Trotman. However, his rapid rise came to a halt after multiple allegations surfaced involving his private life, including claims of school violence, assault, dating violence, and an earlier criminal record related to bodily injury. The controversy ultimately led to his withdrawal from the competition.
At the time, Hwang publicly apologized, expressing regret for hurting people in the past and promising to personally apologize to those affected.
More recently, as he prepared to resume entertainment activities after roughly three years, his agency attempted to refute school bullying allegations by releasing school records. Even so, debate surrounding the unresolved accusations has continued online.
With his latest soundtrack now absent from the drama but still heading to streaming services, the controversy highlights the delicate balance between artistic projects, public opinion, and the lasting impact of celebrity scandals.
As discussions continue, it remains to be seen whether the digital release of the Hwang Young Woong OST will reignite debate—or mark another chapter in the singer’s long-running effort to rebuild his career.
