Two Japanese investment groups announced on October 26 that they plan to acquire up to a JYP Entertainment stake of 50%. In response, JYP stated that it has not received any related proposals.
The NEXROC Group and SVCV, Inc. stated in a press release that they are pushing for the acquisition of JYP shares. Both companies plan to launch a tender offer as early as November, aiming to secure between 25% and 50% of JYP’s issued shares.
The companies added that they are considering a tender offer price reflecting a 30% premium over the benchmark stock price, with detailed conditions such as the baseline stock price calculation method and final purchase price to be finalized later.
However, JYP drew a clear line, stating that no proposal regarding the acquisition of its stake has been received.
Following the news, JYP’s stock surged 14.38% in the after-hours market to close at 42,150 won. With JYP’s market capitalization currently at approximately 1.5 trillion won, a 50% stake equates to about 750 billion won.
