The new movie Fighter officially kicked off its filming schedule today, featuring lead actors Jinyoung, Kim Min-ho, Cha Woo-min, and Lee Seol.
Produced by Big Punch Pictures and Contents G, with Company Black as co-producer, the film entered full-scale production. Fighter is a youth crime action movie following Hye-sung (played by Jinyoung), an unsigned MMA fighter dreaming of entering the UFC, who takes on a dangerous request alongside his best friend Won-do (played by Kim Min-ho), leading them into an unexpected conflict over a cold wallet containing 60 billion won in cryptocurrency.
When Tae-oh (played by Cha Woo-min) threatens their loved ones, Hye-sung steps up to face the ultimate adversary to save his friend. Set in a desperate arena with no ring, no referee, and no rules, the story portrays young people fighting to protect their dreams and friendship. The film is targeted for release in 2027.
Jinyoung Transforms Into an MMA Fighter
Former B1A4 member Jinyoung, known for his roles in The Girl Who Loved Me, The Dude in Me, and the Sweet Home series, takes on the role of Hye-sung. Despite working in a sauna and maintaining a rigorous training routine to pay off debts and cover his brother’s hospital bills, Hye-sung showcases realistic martial arts action and a strong sense of responsibility to protect his family and friends.
Kim Min-ho, recognized for his performances in the New Recruit series, 6/45, and Count, plays Won-do, Hye-sung’s best friend and self-proclaimed manager. Although struggling to run a car center acquired through loans, Won-do believes in Hye-sung’s potential more than anyone else, bringing deep friendship and warm humor to the screen.
Intense Conflict and Rising Tension
Cha Woo-min, who appeared in The Outlaws 2, Men of Plastic, and the series Nine Puzzles, portrays the main antagonist, Tae-oh. Using anyone to achieve his goals, Tae-oh’s meticulous and persistent nature drives Hye-sung to the brink, heightening the film’s suspense with intense charisma.
Lee Seol joins the cast as Ji-na, a nurse at the hospital where Hye-sung’s brother is hospitalized. As Ji-na grows closer to Hye-sung and shares subtle romantic tension, she adds delicate emotional depth to the storyline. Director Kim Suk-mok leads the project, promising a fresh directing style that combines realistic MMA action with youthful energy.
