Myongji University donation of $1 million has been pledged by Young-keun Lee, founder of Profac Corporation and the global streetwear brand Pro Club, to support his alma mater over the next five years.
Myongji University announced that it signed a donation agreement with the Young Seagull Foundation on the Humanities Campus for the cultivation of global youth talent. The foundation will contribute 200 million won annually for five years, totaling 1 billion won.
The Young Seagull Foundation was established by Lee, an alumnus of Myongji Universityโs Department of Trade, who currently serves as its chairman. The donation funds will be utilized for student scholarships, university development, and the ‘Young Seagull Program,’ which supports the global growth of teenagers and young adults.
The Young Seagull Program operates on a framework where participants experience a broader world (See), discover their dreams (Fly), and take on challenges toward their goals through mentoring and support (Dream). Myongji University faculty members and students also participate as mentors.
On the same day, a development fund presentation ceremony was held alongside a dedication service and signboard hanging ceremony for classroom 1505 on the 5th floor of the Comprehensive Building, named after Lee. The event was attended by university officials, including President Lim Yeon-soo, faculty members from the International Trade major, student representatives, and foundation figures.
Lee has operated Profac Corporation for approximately 40 years. The foundation plans to provide overseas experience and career exploration opportunities to youth while networking participants into ‘Young Seagull Alumni’ over the long term.
Lee shared that the gratitude he felt from receiving scholarships during his school days served as the foundation for establishing the organization and making the contribution, hoping to help young people experience a wider world and pursue their dreams.
