A 30-something husband has been taken into police custody after allegedly assaulting his heavily pregnant wife during a domestic dispute. The incident highlights rising concerns over domestic violence during family stressors.
The Incheon Michuhol Police Station announced on the 2nd that they booked the man, referred to as A, without detention on charges of assault. According to investigators, A is accused of slapping and physically assaulting his wife, B, at their apartment in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, around 11:20 p.m. on the 28th of last month.
Police were dispatched to the scene following a neighbor’s report who heard crying sounds coming from the residence. Upon arrival, officers arrested A in the act. Subsequent investigations revealed that the couple, who were expecting their child to be born between December and January, got into an argument while A was playing an online game, which subsequently escalated into physical violence.
To prevent any repeat offenses, authorities issued emergency temporary measures against A, including a prohibition from approaching within 100 meters of the victim.
A police official stated that B received medical treatment at a hospital and both the mother and the unborn child are currently in stable health with no apparent injuries. Investigators plan to conduct further inquiries to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the crime.
