The hit variety show The Great Escape is returning for a brand-new season titled ‘Urban Legends,’ though it will proceed without Kang Ho-dong, who has been with the franchise since its inception.
TVING’s original series ‘The Great Escape: Urban Legends’ is officially scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, December 2 at 6 PM, promising to write a new chapter of legendary thrills. As South Korea’s only ultra-large-scale escape variety show, this season plunges timid cast members—Kim Jong-min, Kim Dong-hyun, Shindong, Yoo Byung-jae, Gong Myung, and Seungkwan—into eerie urban legends where they must push through skyrocketing tension to survive and escape.
The newly unveiled teaser poster immediately captures the spine-chilling atmosphere of the upcoming season. Captured through security camera feeds, the ominous locations hint at the mysterious trials awaiting the cast. Eerie silhouettes, a chilling hand emerging from an open manhole, and shattered glass heighten the suspense. The phrase ‘I want to get out like crazy’ perfectly reflects the desperate mindset of the six trapped cowards, raising anticipation for breathtaking twists, intricate puzzles, and exhilarating thrills.
With original members Kim Jong-min and Shindong returning alongside new addition Seungkwan, the dynamic chemistry among the cast is expected to deliver endless entertainment. Fans are eager to see the synergy of the quick-witted Kim Jong-min, observant Shindong, physical powerhouse Kim Dong-hyun, master storyteller Yoo Byung-jae, passionate supporter Gong Myung, and hyper-sociable Seungkwan.
Meanwhile, Kang Ho-dong, who anchored the show as its leader since Season 1 in 2018, officially announced his departure ahead of this new season after eight years, leaving many fans bittersweet. Passing the baton to his younger colleagues, Kang expressed warm encouragement, stating that every moment of the show was pure joy and expressing confidence in his fellow cast members.
