A large-scale Studio City mixed-use development featuring over 800 apartment units and commercial spaces is set to be built in Los Angeles.
According to Urbanize LA on the 23rd, the LA City Council voted to dismiss residents’ appeals against the mixed-use development project planned for 12555 Ventura Boulevard in Studio City, deciding to uphold the existing project approval.
The project, known as ‘Riverwalk at Studio City,’ is being jointly developed by real estate firms Trenton Property Group, RC Development, and Torino Company.
According to the development plans, existing commercial buildings will be demolished, and multiple buildings ranging from 2 to 7 stories will be constructed. A total of 814 apartment units and approximately 76,000 square feet of commercial space will be built, along with a four-level subterranean parking garage capable of accommodating over 800 vehicles. Among all the apartments, 46 units will be supplied as affordable housing for extremely low-income households.
Previously, neighboring residents opposed the project, arguing that the construction violated building regulations and threatened community safety.
However, the LA City Council accepted the Department of City Planning’s recommendation to dismiss the residents’ appeals and maintained the original project approval.
The developers have agreed to provide an additional $675,000 to improve local community amenities, such as enhancing pedestrian access to the river and planting trees.
